A devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Nepal at 11:56 a.m. local time on April 25, 2015. The quake has claimed the lives of over 8,000 people and injured more than 18,000. Many people have lost their homes, and the situation on the ground in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, is a humanitarian crisis, with food, water, and electricity shortages causing significant hardship for the city’s residents.
Quake aftershocks appear to be dissipating, but the work on the ground is just beginning. Rescue operations are underway and aid organizations are delivering essential services to Nepal’s people. One organization that has a proven record of success in disaster relief is the Red Cross. In Nepal, the Red Cross is providing food, water, medical care, and emergency shelter to thousands of people.
From now and through the entire month of May 2015, all proceeds generated from the sale of the Jaya Nepal! novel through the MartinDavidHughes.com website will be donated to the Red Cross for Nepal earthquake relief efforts. Jaya Nepal! celebrates the incredible spirit of the Nepali people and their ability to face and overcome often severe hardships. The people of Nepal are now facing their most significant challenge ever, and these courageous people need our generous support.
Thank you for supporting the amazing people and country of Nepal in this very difficult moment.
Sincerely,
Martin David Hughes
